Yeah, I was more fooling around with my HC Barb, waiting for my wife to finish her finals so we could play together. I pushed pretty hard, trying to get him killed, and ultimately died when I least expected it.
As a melee character, fighting an angry mob of Skeleton Archers with a Frenzied/Waller spellcaster boss was too much for him. At least his bones rest in my 'fallen heroes' page.
Im sad that this version cannot be modded. I hope that Blizzard makes an ironman mode for this game. Now that would be fun.

Interesting note over at Metacritic. Critics are giving it rave reviews, players are not. Average score of 88. Most of the complaints from the players center around a spotty launch, Online DRM to play, and the graphics. There is some noise coming out about not being able to assign your stats (D1 and D2 had this) but for me personally, I have not had an issue with it. Most MMO's auto assign stats for you. The graphics surprise me. I like the graphics in D3. Every game does not need to look like Battlefield 3. www.metacritic.com/game/pc/diablo-iii

Yea..not sure what peple would be expecting for Diablo graphics. I mean..its top down..nothing was going to chang ethat. Not sure how they would expect CoD or Battlefield graphics on a top-down action RPG...

I think tey mean how bright things are. There was a big hoopla over how bright they are and people did renders of how they think they should be which was slap Grey and black everywhere

Sounds like they definitely didn't learn the lessons from WoW.

Yeah I saw that. Even those with authenticators got hit. Which makes the authenticator pretty useless in the case of session ID stealing. I know zip about hacking, but according to the article I read, they could introduce some preventative measures, so let's hope they already have.

Always remember folks---find the response.
Here's the Blizzard Dev post regarding the above - the last paragraph being most important.

I found the complaints about the game being too bright that still resonate on forums past release perplex me a bit. I mean - I was there thinking the game was too bloody dark at times, and felt I couldnt see the details well enough as a result.
Anyway, I'm enjoying the game, I had zero expectations, thought I'd hate it, but is is addictive, mindless fun.

I'm one of those people who didn't like how bright it is at first but the graphics are growing on me. When they say dark they mean dark gray colour palette dark not dark lighting.
Damn it's very addictive though isn't it? I'm starting to have some trouble with my WD in act 2 where the other classes I'm playing did not have that trouble.

Rolled up a wizard to play with since I played with monk, witch hunter, and barbarian in beta. I really enjoyed the Monk but..I do love a strong wizard class that isn't too squishy and has awesome spell effects. So we'll see how this goes . And btw - Blizz just announced that those accounts with Real Money Auction House activity - if they get compromised the first time, their RMH will be restricted until they attach an authenticator. If they get compromised a 2nd time they will be locked out of RMH. Period. Intersting. And another argument for the fact that authenticator's, while nothign is ever perfect, is pretty much damned hard to crack for 99.9% of those trying to get to your accounts. I mean I'm sure Anon could probably do it but I doubt they give a shit.

If you need an authenticator to play, it should be provided, FOR FREE.
Anyhow, I got hacked about a week into this. Everything stripped out, new random friends, etc... Blizz did a roll back and restored me. I bought an authenticator. blah blah blah. Blizzard has always struggled with watertight netcode. This didnt surprise me.
Finished normal with my Witch Doctor (the class I had the least interest in) and just really love it. I am making my way through nightmare now, taking my time. I use him to farm stuff for my army of alts actually. Wife and I have a Wiz/Wiz duo were running. Pretty incredible how quick we can burn down bosses and packs. I choose an alternate spec than her, so that we always have enough damage spread/escape tactics to remain healthy and alive. Its worked out.
Have to say Demon Hunter is my next fave class though. PEW PEW takes on a whole new meaning. I just dont get into the Melee classes (surprise). Monk is my least favorite.
Just a thought. When the expansion is announced, I predict that you have already met the new classes.
Templar Scoundrel Enchantress
(Maybe Necromancer, since there seem to be a few of those scattered about).

Blizz did a roll back and restored me. I bought an authenticator. blah blah blah. Blizzard has always struggled with watertight netcode. This didnt surprise me. Well you don't NEED one to play. Its just highly suggested. More due to the popularity of the game than the idea that their code is more or less weaker than the code for SW:TOR or EQII or whatever. (SW:TOR also has an authenticator). Before the authenticator, someone I knew was getting their account stolen probably once a week to every two weeks. It was a constant threat. Including people who trouble shoot computers and know their way around computers otherwise. The first day the authenticator dropped we got two - one for me and one for husband. And to this day, the only people I know who STILL get hacked - are the ones who don't have authenticators. And like you, they pick one up once they learn their lesson. I know very few players myself who don't have them. And there IS a free Authenticator - on the iphone store and the android store. Totally free app. (same with SW:TOR) I just didnt' want my authenticator tied to a phone I planned to get rid of so I went ahead and bought the physical one. Now, I am using SW:TOR mobile app authenticator - and have since found out that when I swap phones out - I CANNOT reassign a NEW mobile app authenticator to it. I Will *HAVE* to not only buy the physical version, but go through CS to reassign my account. Now that..is bullshit. Should be able to reassign a new mobile app version of the authenticator when people switch phones. And not be required to buy the physical one because they don't allow you to switch out mobile verisons. Shennanigans.

Blizz's mobile authenticator is much easier to replace. All you have to do is take the old authenticator off your account while you are still using the old phone, then add the new one. Hubs did that when moving from his iPod to his Asus Transformer Prime. But if you make a record of the serial number when you download the authenticator app, you can still change it without having to go through Blizz CS. that's what I did when I reset my mobile to factory settings before I realised it would wipe the authenticator app, lol.
