ooh ooh me too me too!! ;D Name: Frith-Rae BridgeSol - but also known widely as: Mystkldrgn, Dragon Lady, Vestal, and Sex Chipmunk..but that was a long time ago Occupation: Really? Psychologist. Not so really?? Chat chat chat chat. Been in Chat rooms since local BBS days, back when AOL's compeition was CompuServe. Now its chat lists, forums, wherever the dragon is. Oh and I mostly like to kill stuff. (as a dragon...*cough*) HISTORY: oh wait, read above. MMO History- Horizons. Only Horizons. Never gave a shit's weasel for getting into the MMO arena until I was watchign PORTAL *WOO* oneday and they showed a video of Horizons and mentioned you could play a dragon. And that's all she wrote - finally been my true form ever since. And as to the future - you'll only see me lurking around MMOs that offer dragon types. Current and Future: Well..Horizons. Future - Horizons and WISH. WISH - Dragonkin. Among other things, I'd be there for the dragonkin - luckily it has hundreds of other positive things going for it as well. After WISH - well I'm curently keeping an eye on TOA "Trials of Ascension" as it has Dragon playables, who will actually be DRAGONS (pvp game, no balance). But its not even in Alpha yet....but the like 17 races look cool. Besides the dragon even! Garoyles, Minotarus, etc.etc.

Ok, I'll bite and share my sob story with ya'll. I have to admit, its pretty fuckin sad. NameOn forums, usually Darkwater. In game, Darkwater, Nyrill, Calistra, Xenilok, Draekas, Betternu (stole that one from another DAOC player ). OccupationHmm so many. Was a bit of everything in UO. Cleric, shaman and fighter in EQ mainly. More of a mage in AC. Paladin, Infiltrator, Necro, Cleric, Theurgist, in DAOC. Bloodmage/Healer/Druid in Horizons. Figure I'll try some offensive caster next. HistoryPlayed UO when it was first released, so I started my career there. Played for a year or so, but got sick of all the cheaters, so when I got accepted into EQ beta, I quit and played that instead. Loved EQ for a couple years, although I stoped and started several times. First I started on Xegony (my beta server) with my shaman, then quit after a year or so to try AC. Really couldn't stand the graphics in that game, so ended up going back to EQ, but to a new server since a friend of mine had gone to Druzzil Ro during a server transfer, so I started from scratch with a cleric. Loved the amount of content in the game, but hated the elite attitude of alot of players. Played for another year, then got bored of it and bought DAOC when it first came out, which I played for about 6 months before disillusionment hit.. so back to EQ after a short break from the genre. Then quit EQ and went back to DAOC just before SI came out for it. Played for about a year, maxing it lots of characters before getting bored again and switching to Horizons when it released for something new. Just not enough PvE in DAOC for my taste, and RvR I only felt like doing some of the time. Felt like I was going no where (except starting new characters over and over for fucking ever), so that was it for Dark Age. Got sick of taking it up the poop shoot by AE and DB and quit several months ago. Only thing I liked about Horizons was the multiclassing. Most the rest of the game stunk worse than my balls on a hot summer day. Current/Future FormBeen trying some free trials. Tried but didn't like EVE, too slow. Might try SWG free trial for something to do. For the future I'm looking at EQ2, although I might try WOW first as several RL and in game friends are looking at that one. Depends on when all this shit comes out.

Post by kirinir on Sept 22, 2004 11:26:52 GMT
Name: Kirinir in most of the boards that I roam to. There have been a couple of other names, but they tended to be due to the fact that I could use the name of choice. I've been Dexter Clovis Purrlott (in HZ), Bruli Ragnarsson (in DAoC), Phaid (in SWG), and several in EQ (but it's been too long to remember the names) Occupation: I tend to take a look at the classes and then go oooohhh that one sounds really need/interesting. When I started on DAoC I tried the cabalist (the one that could create golums in Alb), the only prob was that most of the Aussies has chosen to play either hib or mid on the server So I switched over to playing skald cause they seemed like the most fun on the middie side of things. I like to be self-reliant as best as I can, meaning that I tend to dabble in a lot of things when I play (probably due to me playing in a time slot where there are a LOT fewer people on). History: Oh good lord.... I got hooked on Telengard on a TRS-80 Model III. I can remember logging on to local BBS's on *erk* 300 BAUD modem (wow I remember upgrading to the 1200 BAUD, I was hot shit then) to play various games on-line. Moved my way up through computers in the years, although I tend to lean more to the RPG/strategy games than anythings else. First MMORPG would have been the MUDS, where I can remember going into the uni computer rooms and playing on there for quite a while and then going home and playing even more there. Moved into EQ late in the game (probably a good 9-12 months after it all started), stayed there for a while. Went to DAoC, which I must say is where I had the most fun, just hated the way that they structured the PvP where you had to get your ass handed to you on a regular basis until you hit 45+ when you might stand a chance. Then SWG (didn't stay there long), and most recently HZ. I did enjoy the people in HZ and that's what I miss the most from there. Current and Future: Currently playing several older games that I have laying around, mostly EUII at this stage. Laying off the MMORPG games until WoW comes out, which is the one that I'm really hanging out for. I'm really looking for a game that I can play solo, but group when I can and is pretty tolerant for us "really casual" gamers (and I don't mean the kind of gamer who plays in the nude)....

Name: Nescio, Mevac, Xiicri. All with the last name Oenothera where it is suitable. Occupation: Preferably some nonhumanoid oddlooking critter, or humanoid with nature/death magic. The guilds evil, demoralized jester. History: Utopia. Math-geek in me liked that game untill I got tired of doing the math. Beta horizons. That was fun. Can't say the rest of Horizons have given me much else than a second job though. Still playing, sort of. I'm the stubborn kind of person when it comes to believing in individuals, and I believe the individuals that creates hz will better themselves. Well, actually I suspect they won't, but I have to give them a few more chances. Tried to play ryzom, but I could never play more than a quarter of an hour before the server crashed. Seriously, tried ~10 times during one of those free for all weekends. Friend who had nagged me to come finally told me to stop trying in the end. He preferred the servers healthy. Future: Gonna give EQ2 a chance. The crafting system looks interesting, and the graphics look good.

Name Well, In mmorpg circles I almost always create an entirely new name for each character I create because they are unique and I feel they deserve their own name. So theres too many to mention really. Sure its all me behind them, but the races, classes, sometimes even games are all different. Plus It'd feel weird picking the same name.
Recently however I have begun to use "Kr" at the beggining of names in order to help me pick names quickly. and for some form of uniform without giving the exact same names.
Occupation
Well I usually like some variation but it really depends on what is available. What I like in a class is usually: ranged weapons, healing, buffing, crowd control. Now if I can get all of the above then great, if not I'll sometimes opt for specialists of the above disciplines.
What I like to do really depends upon the game, in HZ I end up chatting a lot, and I like taking part in events there and exploring to a degree. In EQ2 at the moment I usually just do lots of quests, I don't talk too much but I do like to group there.. but thats mostly just me adjusting to what the content is geared to there. I don't usually explore unless I'm fairly certain I will benefit from it other than just.. knowing whether or not something nice is around that corner.
History Well, started with HZ I believe. But I've briefly participated in beta's of Eve: online (hated it), lineage 2 (not my type), ryzom (showed promise but something seemed missing).
Current/Future Form Currently involved in the beta test of EQ2, enjoying that a fair amount. My HZ account has expired (I canceled autobilling).
In future, I will probably reactivate my HZ account when the EU plot auctions begin. I however do not expect it to hold my attention for long. I may end up purchasing EQ2 but that is not yet certain.

NAME Shaw Moking
OCCUPATION Work in the Live Events industry, we set up light and sound, staging, audio visual equipment etc for corporate conferences. Being corporate all our clients are wankers, as is everyone in the industry, including me.
HISTORY Hz is my 1st MMORPG, played D&D, MERP and a few others, as a teen. Used to lurk in chat rooms, World's Away (compuserves effort), usually with the name 'Catboy', Excite's VP and various others. Still not sure why, but alot of time spent there a few years ago. Never touch the things now.
Tried other MMORPG's but always some always seems missing compared to Hz and it's fine community ingame.
One of the 1st non-beta players to get lvl 100 (the hard way). Fought at all major events, post beta. Feledan, Satyr Isles. Killed a Werewolf (solo) during the werewolf event, then someone stole the loot...lol
Played a hand in making the Dryad ceremony happen when it did. i.e Getting the now Envoy of Aubradine out of bed, to go perform the ritual at 2am.
High ranking in what was Earth's largest Guild(?), Brotherhood of Steel...then left (Mr Popular), to help form Steel Phoenix.
As for the future, who knows. Keep levelling schools I like playing, to make my Reaver the ultimate fighting machine.
No real interest in crafting, but help on Guild members plots etc for my sins. Still enjoying Hz and see the whole consolidation etc as part of an 'event', just to keep my sanity.

So, I've been told that I need to find more subjects than Horizons to talk about by my psychiatrist.
((OK, I know some of you laughed when you read that! Admit it.))
Anyhow... I want the purpose of this thread to be somewhat light on the wordiness and heavy on the person behind the keyboard.
I think it's best if we learn, as a community, to know one another past the issues that we may or may not have had in relation to video games.
In real life I am a happily married (read: whooped) 29 year old kid. I'm a production manager for a small graphic arts & design studio in upstate NY by day and an internet junkie by night.
RPG's have always been a focus of mine since I was little and my older brother introduced me to D&D. The more he told me not to touch his books - the more I would sneak in and read them.
I've been playing guitar since I was 16 and I've been in and out of bands until my last year of college. It was at that time that I came home, met my wife andw e started a life together.
Recently I have picked the guitar back up (about a year ago) and working with a long-time friend (Dan)we started to work on some original material. I play guitar and he sings quite well.
He was in the national guard and got called to Iraq like so many of our reservists & guardsmen. He left behind a wife and 2 year old baby girl - and I've been doing my best to watch over them in his absense.
Recently, I have switched gears from music performance to home studio recording. It's quite a money sink but I figure if it's equipment that will last me a long time - then it's money well spent.
So now I sit, write and record tracks - waiting for Dan to come home (hopefully January) and monitor the progress of WoW Open Beta.
I am a rabid football and hockey fan, more specifically with NFL & ECAC Hockey (Harvard, Yale, St. Lawrence, Clarkson, etc) and I love writing... especially if it can strike a nerve or two.
You might like me, you might hate me - but the name "Destroy" is known by many... and that's not always a bad thing.
If anyone is interested, we'll probably be cutting our first CD sometime in the spring and I'll be sending out 20-30 copies to a few friends... and I can send them your way as well. Just let me know.
We are like a cross between Simon & Garfunkel ..... and .... Toby Keith (even tho I hate country music).

Back when Shawn posted this in a separate thread, I thought it was a good idea, since this thread is mostly about our online personalities. Name: I've got one of those names... I think it's wierd, but others always say "oh, what a pretty name!" And no one ever spells it right. Age: 25 Location: just south of Seattle, WA Occupation: paralegal by day, student by evening (working on the actual paralegal degree, and perhaps a JD down the road) Home life: Got married last March though we've been together 6 years, have a 5 year old daughter, and 20 year old brother that I've raised since I was about 6 (literally). Interests: Well besides gaming (duh), I read A LOT. Mostly fantasy stuff... Weis & Hickman, Eddings, Jordan, Goodkind, etc. I'm also a Law&Order nut... I'm thinking about picking up the PC games. Other than that, between work, school, and taking care of the family, I don't have time for much. Tidbit: I've never been great with rants, except when it's really personal. Then I can go on and on. But otherwise, I'm usually too nice, and often go with the "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all."

Name: I've got one of those names... I think it's wierd, but others always say "oh, what a pretty name!" And no one ever spells it right. Hmm, I have a similar thing with my name.. Firstly, it is usually a girls name. I blame my parents for not expecting a boy, and thinking of a name ahead of time. Heck, I can't think of any reason not to put my first name; Kirstan. Ya, giggle and point fingers, it bothers me not one iota. ;D Whenever someone asks my name over the phone, or to fill in forms etc, I always say 'Kirstan spelt with an A'. I've considered changing it on occasion, but at the end of the day I like having an uncommon name. It contrasts nicely to my common-as-hell middle name and surname.

I knew a lad at school called Tracy, for which he received an inordinate amount of teasing. He grew up hard (he was also black, in fact I think he was the first black kid at my school) and by the time he was 15 no one who knew him giggled at his name or made racist taunts. Don't get me wrong, he was a great guy (I had been friends with him since about 6 years old) but people knew not to cross him. So are you a hard nut after growing up with a girls name and needing to continually prove you're not a girlie, Theurgist? ;D
Incidentally, I can see that being a SA type name. One of the lecturers I work with is called Krisen and he's from SA.
