I've been awaiting this game eagerly and now it is available on Steam.
It is basically Terraria + Spaceship for moving from planet to planet, and also with NPCs, quests, lots more items, enemies, dungeons...
Sounds like it is going to be quite awesome and I've been reading lots of great things about it.
The graphics are kinda dated, but then IMO, that's a lot of the charm behind this game (and Terraria).
I'm currently awaiting its download while sharing bandwidth with a family member who is watching Youtube so I'll update once I've gotten a good taste of the game. From the screenshots, it basically looks like a slightly more advanced Terraria with multiple planets built into the game itself.
This game is going to rock once they get it finished, if they can deliver anything close to what they say it will be.

Okay, first impressions...
1). The game is much harder than Terraria, your character is so incredibly squishy. But then this game is still a beta and they already improved several issues (like the amount of "money" needed to make armor). Also, self-healing is.... yeah. Not easy until you get lots of materials to make bandages and such. You can hop in a bed/tent anytime, but it is *slow*.
2). The game has a better building system than Terraria, you mine several squares at a time rather than one-by-one, and the same blocks can be placed in the foreground or background, without having to craft specific background blocks.
3). You can craft hundreds of items simultaneously rather than clicking the mouse 500 times to make blocks/planks/etc in Terraria.
4). Starbound actually has a small-ish tutorial mode (several things are still left out, like how to fuel your ship). Terraria, you only get to talk to the guide who gives you vague hints.
So, thusfar, I'm liking it, I haven't had a chance to play since the most recent update which fixed a lot of things I was having trouble with (like needing 1,500 pixels to make a suit of sprout armor when most enemies drop 5-10 at a time).
I'd give it an 8/10 despite it being a beta, though I hear quests and things quickly run out once you start getting into slightly higher level areas.
But then again: Beta.
They promise to keep updating the game at "breakneck speed". It is only 2 days and they already released a 570MB update so it looks like they are indeed doing that thusfar.
