So... should we be surprised that there were 3 shooting accidents at gun shows over the past week? All of them related to stupidity by the gun owners. And that some idiot mother sent a loaded handgun to school with her son in his backpack. And the NRA thinks we should arm more people? Many of the people who own them now probably shouldn't. 270,000,000 guns, wonder what the chances are of a idiot owning one? last I heard that kids brother put that gun into the kids backpack, but yeah lockboxes are cheap so leaving a gun where kids can get at it with today's lack of parenting was stupid on the NRA thing their views should not be surprising, also not surprising is the liberals attempts to make another anonymous bogeyman and further divide the people now if I were of the anti gun sentiment what I would be concerned about is why the Democratic controlled Senate has not had any votes on gun control bills.it probably means they are more concerned with staying in office than anything, what a non surprise. Seems as if the dems are just as greedy and uncaring as the GOP politicians. Do tell, I ma shocked, shocked I say. Now what I have done is write my Representatives and let them know I support parts of the Presidents proposals. Perhaps you libs should write your representatives and let them know how you feel about his proposals also. Posting anonymously on the internet will not get anything done I still want to see enhanced background checks and better care for the mentally ill. Holding people liable for not taking reasonable precautions with the storage of their guns would not be a bad idea either. Also we need to stop the revolving door on the prison system. 200 to 300 black kids will be killed tonight, the majority by other blacks and a good percentage over drug and gang related issues. Where is all the outrage over that ? 20 white kids get front page headlines for a month, ten times as many blacks won't even make the back page of section B

Writing to congress is pointless in my opinion. They don't vote the way of their constituencies, they vote the way the lobbyists say. However, I do voice my opinion loud and clear to Congress by voting every damn chance I get.

agree on the second but not on the first. At least if you are believing the media propaganda that the NRA controls the Senate. What many don't seem to realize is that the Southern, Western and rural States would elect a pro gun Black Jewish Lesbian who was a illegal immigrant before they would elect anyone with a anti gun platform. The Northeast and west coast have the loudest voices but they are totally out of touch with rural America. as far as lobbying money here are the NRA PAC contributions to Democratic Senators the last 3 election cycles 2012 Joe Manchin W Va $6500 2010 Byron Dorgan ND $2500 2010 Joe Manchin WVa $2500 2010 Brad Ellsworth In $9900 2010 Harry Reid Nv $4950 2008 Tim Jackson SD $2500 2008 Max Bachus Mt $7450 not exactly huge amounts of money or huge numbers of recipients there is it? source is Open Secrets www.opensecrets.org/pacs/pacgot.php?cmte=C00053553&cycle=2008you may already know this but if not it's great site for info and data on politics and politicians www.opensecrets.org/elections/index.php

Stuff like this is why they should be in institutions and STUDIED, not put onto the streets to do their nutty shit. Also, another reason there should not be a death penalty. They should be locked up and STUDIED, not eradicated.

Well considering how slow and backlogged the people sitting on Death Row are...plenty of time tos tudy them before we kill'em off.
Because I don't agree they should be allowed to live out in perpetuity in a mental hopsital...I have no problem cleansing us of criminal drains on society. Even if there's brain damage; as that article stated; its not "causal" relationship, its not 100% - its just predisposition..warning sign. This isnt a "they had no choice to be that way" situation, like say the mentally retarded.
So..I still have no problem shooting them in the head once they've been studied.

Id rather see them rot away in prison than give them the easy way out, but thats a different discussion.
My point: We never should have abolished asylums, institutions and mental hospitals.

Since it has to do wtih the discussion around in this thread - i watned to point out. A&E has started an excellent new interview show called "The Killer Speaks" where they go and interview a living group-murderer (the show seems to set itself up not to interview single-killing murders but those crimes involving groups of pepole..) in prison currently and he walks you through the event (so far its been two spree-killers - each with much different backgrounds/motivations - only been two episodes so far) as the killer experienced it- and they have the lawyers and witnesses there too. But they also bring on an expert Forensic Psychologist who goes into the real psychology/mindset/true understanding of the convicted murderer and how that person sees the world and what helps to form that mindset. Its really interesting and in wake of all the celebratory-psychopath shows out this season, A breath of fresh air of the reality of psychopaths and how they really work...and how they really don't work. Even as I consider myself an "amateur expert" on this subject I still find it interesting and am learning more myself. So if this type of education/documentary series is up your alley I encourage you to give it a watch. Very well done show - the killers are fascinating to watch them talk. It airs on Thursdays. Have to say I am really surprised the spree-killer int he first episode, who was tried in Texas, managed to get away with life in prison... IN TEXAS?! I figure it was either the jury thought he'd be punished more by living (meaning they don't get it...) or they realized just how fuckedup his father made him (as a kid he was forced to go out and watch as his dad shot up a box of puppies for one example..) and considered him criminally mentally ill. He was being kept in a criminal-psych-hospital.
