hehe. Want to hear something else? There's now an EVE TV show. Yep. eve-online.tv/It costs to stream the show though. But you can get 200 free credits (good for 1 and a bit shows) just by signing up (no payment details needed, just need to register and click the link on the email they send ya). Started last Saturday, 2nd show was yesterday. 2nd one was much improved over the first, so you may want to watch that if you're at all curious. The Titan kill was mentioned there in the news segment. Not sure if it'll really take off since its a pay per view thing (most thought it would be free like before). But they've hired a professional studio now, and are trying to make a go of it. Its not actually CCP doing it, its MMM publishing, who publish EON magazine (yes, its about EVE too). Anyway, we'll see if it lasts or not. Hopefully they'll bring our more payment options other than the Jalipo stream. The 4th alliance tournament is also broadcast live on EVE-TV and will be starting at the end of August and run for 2 weeks. Sort of like a world cup tournament thing for the big alliances to show off thier pvp skills and the size of thier checkbooks. The last 2 were really interesting to watch, even though I wasn't playing EVE at the time.

Okay I have no idea what that's on about . Don't bother to try. Eve is the closest thing you will find to a virtual world/universe. Beta'ed it and tried it twice after release and I really wish I could enjoy it but just cannot seem to grasp the fun factor in it. I love the concept though.

Which part? hehe Here's some EVE lingo definitions hehehe myeve.eve-online.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=522228For the tournament video commentaries, lets see if I can give a brief rundown. NOS (or nossing) are nosferatu energy drain weapons that drain cap (capaciter, your energy reserves that you run weapons, and other modules on), and give that energy to yourself. Logistics drones, are armor or shield repair robots that you can use on yourself or friends. Think pets here. Combat drones, are, well for sicking on your target which they shoot at. "Repping" = repairing.. either armor repping, or shield repping. Some ships are "shield tanked" and others are "armor tanked". Armor, shield, cap transfer = remotely repairing your friend's armor, shields or transfering your cap to your friend. Snowballs were a fun module that shot snowballs at targets.. just a fun christmas thing one year. Target Painters are modules that make your target easier to hit and/or make larger weapons do more damage to them. EVE is very size oriented, so big ships have a hard time hitting little ones for decent damage. Megathron, Flycatcher, Eos, Raven, Ishkur, ect. are just ship types. The player alliances in those vids are: Mercenary Coalition (MC) vs Ascendant Frontier (ASCN) and Stain alliance vs Band of Brothers (BoB)

I played a couple trials of EVE and loved it.. I HATE space games as a rule (and its a big rule engulfing all Sci-Fi stuff including SWG) Im an old school fantasy guy. Fact is though eve has a well done skill system.. Even as a noob you can jump in and do some stuff. And fun stuff too . Tons of NPCs to hunt and kill and the whole train while offline thing was great. PvP action was cool and for the most part the people I ran into were very good about it. in my 14 day trials I woudl run into some experienced miners who would get jumped by pirates and if you helped them out they woudl be eternaly grateful.. Err and I dont mean NPC pirates USed to be funny when someone would yell at me to attack the miners and instead I'd rip him a new one FFA PvP rocks and the fact that you get to keep the spoils of war (IE whatever gear you could salvage from the wreaked ships) was a nice touch. Was very cool. Even as a pure and total noob I dont recall ever getting PWNED. Sure I died a few times got podded a couple times. No biggie. Never really got wiped hard.. In fact I ended up owning a very nice warship in my last 14 day trial. Rigged it up by myself with no help and was taking on some very experienced targets. EVE is a game I highly recommend to Sci-fi enthusiasts. Be mindful though it is primarily a PvP game and designed as such. That said it toakes all of an hour or 2 into your trial to find a decent noob guild and work together to level up a bit. Great game.

Speaking of huge ships, did you see the Dev-Blog about the new Ore capital ship? It sounds awesome.

Yeah. I'm not quite convinced though. I think it tends to try to do too many things at once, and hence won't do any really well. Instead of being like a mini mining outpost at a belt you're mining, it will probably just be kept in a safespot, or inside a POS shield to give miners the mining bonuses. To me, that seems kind of silly.
I mean, the ore compression is nice, but you have to put the ship in industry mode which lasts 5 minutes at a time. That just makes the thing a billion isk sitting duck, since you can only use capital ships in lowsec or 0.0.
Personally, I think they should have gone with 2 or 3 ORE capitals. One a jump capable freighter/industrial, One a ORE command type ship with lots of gang bonus, and finally one to can sit in a belt with the miners, do the compression thing but be able to protect itself and the barges well. Especially the defense things. Barges pop really easily, so maybe a device that boosts targeted barge resists or something. I dunno.
Anyway, yeah its interesting, but I think they're trying to make it into a jack of all trades, and master of none kind of ship, which will relegate it to POS shield hugging duty if anything. Nice to see industrialists get some love, but I think they could do better. =D

We've been doing a bit of lowsec mining lately. 1 Exhumer, 1 Barge, 1 Industrial and 2 Battleships providing patrol duty. Works pretty well. Trying to fill a contract we got for 2.7 billion ISK worth of minerals.

Nice, which are you flying? =D Had any pirate problems so far?
Myself, I joined a new corp just over a month ago. Been doing alot of ice mining lately, but we're planning on puting up our own POS in a little traveled low sec system to research BPOs and mine the belts there. Will be my first experience with POSes, so we'll see how it goes. =D

Oh, and just a reminder if you're interested, the 4th Alliance Tournament will be live on EVE TV the first 2 weekends in Sept, starting August 31. The tournament broadcast is free to everyone. Some info in this thread, if you're interested, including a link to the shedule. myeve.eve-online.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=566346

I was flying the barge actually. I don't have a battleship yet, only a battlecruiser. We keep a close eye on the local channel for new arrivals. We've had a few people jump in and then quickly leave. But its hard to say if they were checking us out or checking the belt for NPC pirates, you know? Nobody has tested us yet though.
Aside from that we're trying to establish relations with alliances or corps in lowsec space that have ties to 0,0 space. Our goal is to eventually join an alliance and move into 0,0 space entirely, but we're taking it slow (being cautious and all).
Hey, you mentioned that the Ore ship could only travel in 0,0 or lowsec space? How do they restrict that? Are there actual travel gates in 0,0 space? I mean, whats to stop someone from flying a carrier into Oursulaert or one of the Amarr homeworlds?
